Our mission is to help individuals and communities transcend multi-generational cycles of poverty through the practice of Positive Psychology.
Positive Psychology centers on the idea that people want to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. It pursues the pinnacles of what humans are capable of, not what statistics say the averages are likely to be. It guides people to cultivate the best in themselves, rather than focus on overcoming weaknesses.
Our methodology is helpful for people of all backgrounds and from all walks of life, but for those facing adversity, and particularly those born into multigenerational cycles of poverty, this practice can be a revelation. Through our programs, Launching Legacies helps our clients shatter their own limiting beliefs, and works with them to create a new vision for themselves and for their futures.
In doing so, our clients become powerful agents for change, disrupting dysfunctional cycles, and transforming their lives and their communities.
Our programs can be tailored for any individual, institution, or business, but we’re especially passionate about supporting the most at-risk members of our community - the chronically poor, children living in group homes or foster care, and incarcerated people and their families.

Dr. Ericka Walters is no stranger to adversity. Born into a large family in inner-city Los Angeles, Ericka saw first hand how damaging limiting beliefs and dysfunctional life patterns can be. As a young single mother, Ericka faced numerous hardships that were amplified by the fixed mindsets of her peers and values incongruent to her aspirations.
However, Ericka knew she didn’t have to settle for the vision other people had for her life. She searched out her own meaning, began transforming her own beliefs, and challenging the way she thought about obstacles so she would have the mindset and tools needed to overcome them.
Ericka graduated college, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from CSU Northridge, and a doctorate in Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University.
Ericka founded Launching Legacies in 2015 to help others discover potential in their own lives, and help them work towards creating meaningful and attainable legacies.
